The Camden AHEC Community Health Van travels with a an experienced team of healthcare professionals, health educators and outreach workers, who provide free and confidential on–the-spot health education, counseling and reading materials, as well as a variety of medical screenings and protective devices to help prevent the spread of disease.

Among the free screenings offered are tests for blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and pregnancy, as well as for syphilis, hepatitis, HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. The HIV/AIDS test involves no needles – just a gentle mouth swab; results are ready in about 20 minutes.

The AHEC team provides referrals to a wide range of other free or affordable treatment and social services resources; and they assist clients in qualifying and applying for medical insurance.
